There was a
time when the pale, salmon hued dry rose' wine from Provence in France was the
best known examples of true, dry rose'. Time's have really changed and almost
every wine growing country is producing outstanding dry, crisp rose' and they
begin to arrive in the early spring. Some are produced year-round while others
are usually gone by late summer. Because Rose’s is made from primarily red
grapes they are the perfect go-to wine for BBQ’s and parties because of their
ability to pair so well with food….especially on a hot summer day when you
might not want a heavier red wine.
Domaine Houchart – Provence, France
This
beautiful wine is a favorite year after year… lovely salmon color, bright cherry and strawberry flavors
and a long, lingering finish. Just a light chill to preserve the delicate
aromas and you have a perfect aperitif. It’s also a great match with summer
salads (Nicoise anyone?), chicken and fish. But the perfect pairing for this
wine is even simpler…match it with the summer sun!
Artner
Zweigelt Rose’ – Austria –
The Artner wine estate encompasses 30 hectares of
some of the best wine-growing locations in Carnuntum. This ambitious wine
region is located in the eastern part of Austria, close to Vienna. Artner
Zweigelt rose is a delightful wine; light pink in color with refreshing aromas
of strawberries and raspberries, echoing on the palate. Fresh and harmonious
with a light finish. Perfect as an apertif!
Wolffer
Estate Rose’ – Long Island, NY –
WOW! We were so surprised how good this wine was and
to have it come from Long Island made it even more special! Its made with 40%
Chardonnay, 35% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc. A beautiful
pale copper-salmon color, the nose is very reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc with
fresh squeezed citrus aromas grapefuit, lemon and lime with subtle hints of
herbs and briary strawberry. On the palate grapefruit and lemon is in the
forefront. Only as it warms does the strawberry and raspberry notes emerge. Get
this before it disappears.
DMZ

A classic, elegant, well-balanced wine which
over-deliver in terms of quality for price. This crowd-pleasing rosé displays
alluring aromas and juicy flavors of pomegranate, watermelon and strawberries,
accented with delicate floral and spice hints.
